 High-Relief Elephant Sculpture
Plaster, reed grass, raffia, mixed media

 36" W × 31.75" H (framed approx. 41"–43" W × 36"–38" H) 

This high-relief wall sculpture features a hand-sculpted elephant emerging from a textured surface, with tusks projecting prominently into the viewer’s space. The elephant was sculpted and cast in plaster using separate molds for the head and tusks to enhance depth and dimensionality. Reed grass and raffia are embedded into the background and unified with a custom mixture of paint, modeling paste, and joint compound, then finished in a matte chalk paint. The monochromatic surface emphasizes form, texture, and shadow, blurring the boundary between wall-mounted relief and sculpture in the round.

 The artwork is shown with a rustic wood frame. Frames are custom made to order and included in the purchase price; each frame is crafted from rough-cut wood on hand and may vary in tone, texture, and appearance from the example shown. 

 Horse Bas-Relief Sculpture

24" × 24" (framed approx. 29"–31") 

A horse emerges in shallow relief, its form held just beneath the surface. Originally hand-sculpted and cast in plaster, the figure is animated by a mane built through layered paint and modeling paste, creating a soft sense of motion within a restrained depth. The matte, monochromatic finish allows light and shadow to drift across the surface, revealing subtle contours and texture. Balanced between stillness and movement, the piece captures a quiet strength—suggesting motion not through volume, but through rhythm and line.  

Each piece is completed with a custom, made-to-order frame, crafted from rough-cut wood and included in the purchase price. Due to the natural variation of the materials, the frame may differ in tone and texture from the example shown. Framing adds approximately 2.5–3.5 inches to the overall dimensions.
